Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 16, 2026

Overview

Billiard Shot Studio ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with our mobile application.

The TelemetryDeck and Sentry practices described below apply from version 3.0 onward. Earlier releases used Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, and TelemetryDeck, and could associate analytics with your account after sign-in.

Information We Collect

Billiard Shot Studio collects certain information to provide and improve our services.

Personal Information

We collect the following personal information:

  • Account Information: Your account identifier, email address, and sign-in provider are used for authentication and account management through Firebase Authentication.
  • Saved Content: Collections and saved shots, including their names, notes, favorites, shot geometry, thumbnails, and timestamps, are stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore under your account.
  • Shot Links: Creating a link publishes the table preset and shot setup, including ordered balls, aim, spin, speed, elevation, and cue ball deflection. Shared setups contain no shot name, notes, account information, planning aids, or display preferences. We separately store the creation time and your private account identifier for abuse handling.
  • Purchase Information: Apple or Google Play, together with RevenueCat, process purchases and subscription access. RevenueCat receives your account identifier and email when signed in, or an anonymous app-user identifier when signed out, together with purchase and entitlement information.
  • Support Submissions: In-app feedback sent to Sentry includes your description and any supplied name or email. Signed-in feedback uses your account email. Messages you send to our support email include the information you choose to provide.

Analytics Data

Since version 3.0, we use TelemetryDeck to understand feature use and improve the app. Analytics use the SDK's default device-based identifier, hashed before transmission. On iOS it is derived from the vendor identifier; on Android it is a random identifier stored in the app's data, which is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data. Signing in or out does not switch analytics to your account identity or join activity across your devices.

  • Product interactions and outcomes, such as using playback, saving a shot, completing or skipping the tutorial, search outcomes, and paywall purchase or restore outcomes.
  • Automatic session and acquisition information, including first-session date, session frequency and duration, and days used.
  • App version/build, SDK and Dart versions, device brand, model and architecture, operating system, orientation, screen size/scale/density, and time zone.
  • Language, locale, region, layout direction, color scheme, calendar/time-of-use context, accessibility preferences such as motion, text size and contrast/color settings, and debug, simulator, app store, installation source or TestFlight context.

Our custom analytics contain limited product choices and outcomes. They do not include account, shot or collection identifiers; shot names, notes or geometry; search queries; contact details; feedback text; or exception text. These TelemetryDeck analytics are used for product analysis and are not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Crash Diagnostics

Sentry operates separately from product analytics. It collects crash and diagnostic data and, when signed in, account identifier, email and sign-in-provider context. In-app feedback is also sent to Sentry. Session replay is disabled, so the app does not record your screen for diagnostics. Feedback and diagnostics may still contain information linked to your account or the content you submit.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Authentication: To verify your identity and provide secure access to your account
  • Account Management: To maintain your user profile and associated data in our database
  • Purchases: To provide and restore Premium access
  • App Improvement: To analyze usage patterns and improve features, performance, and user experience
  • Technical Support: To diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Shot Sharing: To let anyone with a Shot Link preview and import its setup, and to investigate abuse using the privately retained creator identifier

Data Storage and Security

We take data security seriously and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

  • Account and saved-shot data are stored through Firebase services.
  • TelemetryDeck processes device-based analytics separately from account-linked cloud, purchase, and support data.
  • We use secure protocols for data transmission.

While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We recommend keeping your device password-protected and up to date with the latest software updates.

Data Retention

We retain your email address and associated account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the email address provided below.

In-app account deletion removes your Firebase Authentication identity. Account-linked profiles, collections and shots are cleaned up asynchronously; deleting the identity does not confirm that cleanup has finished. Account deletion does not cancel or remove App Store or Google Play purchases. It is not a promise that device-based analytics, purchase records or Sentry diagnostics and feedback are immediately erased.

Shot Links are public and have no expiration or user revocation. Published setups and their private creator identifiers remain after you delete the original shot or your account. Anyone with a link can copy and share it or import the setup without signing in. Contact support to report abuse. Administrative removal prevents future link resolutions, but cannot remove copies already imported or shared by others.

Third-Party Services

The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, which are subject to Apple's and Google's privacy policies. Apple and Google may collect certain information as described in their privacy documentation. Sign in with Apple is available on iOS; Google Sign-In is available on Android.

We also use Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore for accounts and saved content, Firebase Cloud Functions and Hosting for Shot Links, RevenueCat for purchase access, TelemetryDeck for product analytics, and Sentry for diagnostics and feedback. These services process the information described above for their respective purposes. The Shot Link landing page does not use analytics or look up the shared setup in your browser.

Children's Privacy

Our app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
